That does not mean you come to us — we are a fully remote service and there is no waiting room — but it does mean the people who built this service live here, use the same local NHS, and know the roads you would otherwise be driving down for a ten-minute appointment.
A 20-minute consultation with a GMC-registered GP costs £40. Appointments run from 6am to 10pm, seven days a week, and any sick note, prescription or referral letter is included in the price.
Mid Cheshire is well placed for onward care. The nearest blood collection point is at Cheadle, around half an hour away, and scans can be arranged wherever is most convenient for you.
Northwich sits at the centre of mid Cheshire, with Leighton Hospital at Crewe serving as the main acute site and the Victoria Infirmary providing community services in the town itself. For anything requiring the acute hospital, that is a journey of around twenty miles — manageable by car, considerably less so by bus.
The town grew on salt, and the chemical industry that followed remains part of the local economy alongside distribution, retail and a substantial commuter population travelling to Manchester, Warrington and Chester.
Mid Cheshire is a genuinely mixed area. Northwich and Winsford have neighbourhoods with real economic pressure; the villages between them are among the more comfortable in the county. The two sit close enough together that borough-level health statistics tell you very little about any particular street.
Public transport across mid Cheshire is thin outside the main routes. For anyone without a car — which disproportionately means older people and younger families — the practical distance to healthcare is a good deal further than the map suggests.
A commuter population travelling long distances daily brings the familiar pattern of stress, poor sleep and cardiovascular risk factors, often presenting as fatigue rather than as anything more specific.
An older population in the surrounding villages means long-term condition review, blood pressure monitoring and medication reviews are common reasons to book.
Rural transport limitations make remote consultation genuinely useful here rather than simply convenient, particularly for repeat prescriptions and follow-up.
Victoria Infirmary Northwich provides community services locally. Acute and emergency care is at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, around fifteen miles south — which is worth knowing before an emergency rather than during one.
Chest pain, stroke symptoms, sudden breathlessness or a suspected fracture go to A&E or 999, not to a remote appointment.
Bowel screening from 50 — the kit arrives by post and is one of the few screening tests proven to save lives. It takes minutes and a great many are never returned.
Cervical screening from 25 and breast screening from 50 are both free and both do things no blood test can.

No. We are not here to replace GPs, only to support them. Your NHS practice remains responsible for your ongoing care, and with your consent we write to them after the consultation. We are useful when you need to be seen sooner, or want more time than a standard appointment allows.

It means the diagnosis can usually be made from your history and photographs, and that treatment can be arranged safely without examining you. Where a condition is not marked treatable online, it is because examination is the diagnosis — listening to a chest, feeling an abdomen, examining an ear or a joint — or because a procedure or device is needed.
Yes, where there is a genuine bacterial infection — cellulitis, impetigo, bacterial urine infections, confirmed strep throat. We will also frequently tell you that you do not need one. Most sore throats, coughs, colds and earaches are viral, and an antibiotic gives you the side effects with none of the benefit.
If your problem turns out to be genuinely outside what we can do remotely, the doctor will tell you straight away, point you to the right service, and refund your fee in full. We would rather do that than fill twenty minutes to justify the charge.
