Your children are covered wherever they are
Because we have no premises, family cover is not tied to a postcode. A family in Chester with a son at university in Newcastle still has him covered — same membership, same doctor, no re-registering.
Students are among the worst-served people in UK primary care. Half-registered at home, half at university, effectively registered nowhere, and reluctant to use either. Cover runs to 18, or to 25 in full-time education, which closes that gap for the years it matters most.
What membership includes
Unlimited consultations
Full 20-minute appointments by secure video or telephone, as often as you genuinely need them. There is no allowance counting down and no charge at the point of use — which is the entire point, because the moment care has a price attached is the moment people put off asking.
Repeat prescriptions without an appointment
Where it is clinically appropriate and you are within your monitoring interval, we reissue without making you book. Contraception, HRT and stable long-term medication are the usual cases. Where a review is genuinely due, we will say so rather than issue blind.
Follow-up messaging
One question after an appointment should not need a new appointment. Message the doctor who saw you about anything arising from that consultation, at no cost.
Priority booking
Slots are released to members first, which matters most on the days everyone wants one — Monday mornings, and the run-up to a bank holiday.
The same doctor
You choose who you see and can keep going back to them. Continuity is not a nicety: a doctor who already knows your history reaches the right answer faster and notices what has changed. The evidence on this in general practice is strong.
Interpreting at no extra cost
Dr Khan consults natively in English, Urdu and Punjabi. For any other language we use Language Line, including British Sign Language, and the price does not change. We do not charge people differently for the language they think in.
Should you join at all?
Here is the arithmetic, including the part that argues against us.
Individual membership costs £180 a year monthly, or £150 paid annually. A single consultation costs £40.
So membership pays for itself at roughly four consultations a year. Below that, pay as you go is cheaper and we would rather tell you than take the money.
Membership is probably right if
You have children — the family tier is the clearest case by a distance
You manage a long-term condition needing regular review
You take medication that needs monitoring and reissuing
You are going through perimenopause or starting HRT, where the first year means several reviews
You have found yourself putting off asking a doctor because of what it costs
Pay as you go is probably right if
You are generally well and see a doctor once or twice a year
You want one specific thing — a letter, a test, a second opinion
You are trying us out and would rather not commit
Your NHS practice already meets your needs and you only want occasional backup
You can switch to membership at any point, including immediately after a consultation.
What membership does not cover
Stated plainly, because finding out later is how people end up feeling misled.
Medication
Prescriptions are included. The medicine is not — your pharmacy dispenses it and charges you for the drug. We deliberately do not dispense, so we never profit from what we prescribe.
Blood tests and scans
Requesting them, interpreting them and explaining them is included. The laboratory or imaging provider charges for the test itself, and we tell you the cost before anything is booked.
More than four medical letters a year
Sick notes, referral letters, travel letters and the rest are included, up to four per member per year. Beyond that they are £40 each. Almost nobody reaches the limit; it exists so that membership is not used as a route to unlimited documentation, which would put quiet pressure on a doctor to sign things.
Emergencies and out-of-hours
We are open 6am to 10pm and we are not an emergency service. Overnight, or for anything urgent at any hour, that is NHS 111, or 999 in an emergency. Membership does not change this and no private GP service should suggest otherwise.
Anything needing examination
We cannot listen to a chest or feel an abdomen down a video call. We assess, advise and refer — quickly — but we will not pretend a remote consultation substitutes for a hand.
Controlled drugs
ADHD stimulants, strong opioids and benzodiazepines are not prescribed remotely, for members or anyone else. We refer to a specialist who can assess and initiate properly.
On the word “unlimited”
We mean it, and we do not intend to be clever about it. There is no allowance, no soft cap, and nothing counting down in the background.
Two honest qualifications. Consultations still have to be clinically appropriate — a doctor will always tell you when an appointment is not needed, and that judgement is what you are paying for. And if someone’s usage sits far outside any ordinary pattern, we will have a conversation about whether a different arrangement suits them better. We will not simply cut someone off without speaking to them.
Unlimited exists to remove the moment of hesitation before asking. It is not there to be gamed, and in practice almost nobody tries.
Membership questions
Is there a minimum term?
No. Monthly membership can be cancelled at any time and runs to the end of the period you have paid for. Annual membership can be cancelled with a pro-rata refund of whole months remaining.
Can I join partway through a problem?
Yes. There is no waiting period and no exclusion for pre-existing conditions — this is a membership, not insurance. If you are unwell today you can join today and be seen today.
Do I still need an NHS GP?
Yes, and we would encourage it. We complement NHS care rather than replacing it. Your NHS practice holds your continuous record and runs vaccination and screening programmes, and only they can make an NHS referral.
Who counts as a child on the family tier?
Anyone under 18, or under 25 in full-time education, living as part of your household. We see children of any age. A parent or guardian must be present for any consultation with a child under 16, and where a child needs hands-on examination the doctor will say so and point you to the right in-person service.
Can I add someone later?
Yes. Move between tiers at any point and we adjust the next payment. Nobody is charged twice for the same month.
Is my family’s information shared within the household?
No. Every member over 16 has their own confidential record, and nothing is shared with another household member without consent — including between partners on the Couple tier. A 16-year-old on a family membership has the same confidentiality as any other patient.
