Email is usually the quickest way to reach us for anything non-urgent — booking questions, rescheduling, records requests or general enquiries.
To speak to a doctor about a medical problem, book an online GP consultation. We cannot give clinical advice by email or over the phone without an appointment, which is a matter of safety rather than policy: advice given without a proper history is advice given blind.
Outside our hours, or for anything urgent, contact NHS 111. In an emergency, call 999. We are not an emergency service.
What to use which route for
- Email — booking, rescheduling, receipts, records, questions about whether we can help with something before you pay
- Phone — anything easier to explain out loud, or if you would rather not put it in writing
- A consultation — anything clinical, including "is this normal?" and "should I be worried about this?"
That last line is worth being clear about. We will not answer a clinical question by email even when we could guess at the answer, because a guess made without a history is exactly the thing that goes wrong.
If you need an adjustment
Tell us when you book. That includes needing an interpreter, needing longer, needing a written summary rather than a verbal one, or anything else that would make the appointment work better for you.
It is easier to arrange in advance than to improvise on the day, and it is not an imposition to ask.
If something has gone wrong
Say so. We would rather hear it directly — see how to raise a concern.
